There are so many perks to hiring a doula! These include clinical benefits such as reduced use of Pitocin, fewer requests for pain meds, less likely to need forceps or vacuum, reduced likelihood of cesarean birth, greater satisfaction with the overall birth experience, and more positive longterm memories.

Emotional support perks are decreased anxiety, increased confidence, boosted self esteem, and improved postpartum mental health. During labor, benefits include increased movement, improved relaxation, comfort and reassurance, and lactation support.

Why do you need a doula?

What people are saying…

“Where do I start? From the first consult, Alyssa was a WEALTH of knowledge for me, and more importantly she became a central support for me all through my pregnancy and birth. I dealt with a LOT of prodromal labor in third trimester, and she was never too busy to help me work through determining whether the contractions were early labor or not (and to help me through the mental battle that that can become as you keep dealing with false alarms!). She armed me with tools for relaxation and helped build up my confidence before my first home birth (it was my third birth, but first at home). She even stayed in the loop on my chiropractor visits and suggested Spinning Babies techniques based on baby's position. At my home birth, my active labor had progressed really quickly, but she arrived totally composed and was so present, and she was a HUGE help to my husband to get him in supportive positions and to help keep the environment calm like I wanted. It was a better birth than I had even imagined for myself, and I contribute so much of that success to Alyssa's support and prep tools. I could not recommend her enough!!”

“The moment Alyssa and I sat down for coffee, I knew I had found the doula that I wanted to be by our side at birth. She was everything we were looking for and more! We connected very quickly on our outlook of birth, raising children + our faith, which are all very important things to my husband and I. Even though my birth didn’t go the way I had hoped and planned, my husband and I couldn’t have gotten through it without her by our side helping guide us as first time parents. We will forever be grateful for her voice in the moments when we didn’t know what we wanted and her willingness to step in when she knew we needed her to. I will always recommend her to anyone I know looking for a doula in our area + plan to have her assist in all my future births!”

“I had a wonderful experience with Alyssa. We connected in the third trimester of my fourth pregnancy. She was able to recommend multiple resources that really helped me through the end of my pregnancy and through the birth. She stayed in communication with me the week I went into labor since my labor kept stopping and starting. Once my water broke and I was ready to go to the hospital she met me there right away and stayed with me and my husband through the whole labor and for a while afterward. She was so supportive of all of my decisions and helped communicate my wishes to the nurses when I was overwhelmed with everything. She really helped me with finding comfortable positions and applying back pressure since I wanted to hold off on getting the epidural as long as possible. I successfully had my third VBAC a healthy baby! Alyssa was so supportive and kind and I would definitely recommend her whether you are planning a home birth, birthing center, or hospital birth!”

”Alyssa was my doula for the birth of my 3rd child. I know that because of her, I had a beautiful, natural, physiological birth. She is kind, incredibly generous, loves the Lord, and has a calming presence that makes her a perfect doula for someone like me. I have a lot of anxiety and do better when I have someone who is both gentle and firm. Alyssa became a part of my pregnancy journey around 18 weeks along. I was able to talk about my previous births, my indecision about where to give birth, and the difficulties I had experienced with secondary infertility. I had an initial consultation and 2 prenatal appointments with her in person where she was so attentive and wonderful about helping my husband and me to think through what I wanted my birthing time to look like. She was also available by phone and text, and I appreciated so much how often she checked in with me (and reminded me that I couldn't over communicate with her). A very big reason I decided to pursue a birthing center birth where I knew I wouldn't be able to have an epidural (I'm definitely not great with pain and had epidurals with my first 2) was because of her encouragement and also her suggestion to pursue using Hypnobabies.

Alyssa is such a wealth of information. I felt very safe going to her with my questions, concerns, and even my frustrations. She was fabulous at reminding me of God's sovereignty, His perfect timing, and that she was praying for me. During my actual birthing time, Alyssa was a strong, calming presence that involved herself when she needed to and also let me work through the different stages of labor. I'm so thankful for everything Alyssa did for me during pregnancy, my birthing time, and also after birth and in the weeks following birth. She is a fantastic doula and an amazing person. I highly recommend her and am so happy to do so.”
